Stiff purl wire for bead embroidery, 0.9mm, antique silver, approx. 1m

By A Mystery Man Writer

Approx. 0.85-0.9mm thick, stiff cannetille wire for bead embroidery. This type of spun hollow wire is also called bullion wire, gimp wire or purl wire. Priced per approx. 1m that may come in one continuous, uncut piece or in 2-3 pieces. Stiff purl wire works best for creating borders and outlines in embroidered motifs before filling it further with beads, crystals and cut pieces of soft purl wire. The wire should be stretched a little before use. It will make it straight, easier to work with and it will open the coils just a little, so your thread stitches can sink in between and become invisible. Don't miss the tutorial video from Sarah Homfray if this is the first time you will be using purl wire. Also, take a look at the extra images from one of our favorite artisans - Ekaterina Kalinina.
