Vertical to horizontal shaft power - Charcoal Gasification - Drive On Wood!

By A Mystery Man Writer

Vertical engines I have but horizontal engine poor. I remembered an old Ariens mower I have with this set up. The engine belt drives a pulley that has a flat face on which a “tire” rides. The pulley will travel from edge to a little past center giving you forward and reverse with some variable speed control. Found this interesting but can it be adapted to handle say 20 HP?
