Royal City of Loches in LOCHES, Visite & Tourism Loire Château Tours in France - Touraine Val de Loire

By A Mystery Man Writer

The Château de Loches (known as the Royal City of Loches) is in the Indre valley. It is a member of the great family of Loire châteaux. The castle was built on a long, rocky spur and features an impressive keep, a masterpiece of medieval military architecture. From the lower town to the fortress, the little winding streets are lined with architectural gems (Loches is part of the "Towns and Regions of Art and History" network). These include the Saint-Ours collegiate church, a Romanesque gem featuring pyramids (known as the "dubes"), and the late-medieval royal residence, a landmark in French history, visited by Joan of Arc, Agnès Sorel and Anne of Brittany. The interactive themed visit evokes the lives of the men and women who made their mark on the site's history. Visitors can enjoy an immersive tour of the castle keep in augmented reality with the Histopad. The Royal City of Loches also hosts a new exhibition each year.
