Dipteran - Flying Insects, Metamorphosis, Pollinators

By A Mystery Man Writer

Dipteran - Flying Insects, Metamorphosis, Pollinators: The life cycle of a fly consists of four stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Most flies lay eggs that hatch into tiny larvae after a few hours or several days. All fly larvae lack true, jointed, thoracic legs; many have “false legs” (prolegs or pseudopods). About half the fly species have larvae known as maggots.
Dipteran, any member of the order Diptera, consisting of the two-winged insects, or so-called true flies.
