These grease cups are scaled down version of those widely used on all machinery in the age of steam to apply grease under pressure to a bearing.  They work just like the original:  put grease in the cap, screw down on the body and grease is applied under pressure to the bearing.  They have knurled tops and do a great job of adding the additional detail to dress up an engine.
